Gunung Nglanggeran ancient volcano

Mount Nglanggeran is an ancient mountain, in the village of Nglanggeran, Patuk, Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta, formed from magma freezing of more than 60 million years ago. Mount Nglanggeran composed of igneous rocks such as andesite, lava and andesite breccia as part of a row Sewu Mountains Geopark.

Mount Nglanggeran derived from seabed volcano uplifted and become the mainland millions of years ago. Ancient mountain had large rocks towering to the highest peak is Mount Gedhe approximately 700 meters above sea level and a total area of 48 hectares.

Mountain-shaped giant boulders to climb past the stone alleyways are narrow and takes about two hours. Visitors can climb the highest peaks using a rope or ladder, and there are signs along the track to prevent the climbers got lost.

Government Gunung Kidul build Embung Nglanggeran is building a pond in one of the peaks with an altitude of about 500 meters above sea level. Embung of 1,000 square meters to accommodate the rain water then irrigates the tree plantations kelengkeng, durian and rambutan around the reservoir.

Asymmetrical shaped artificial lake length of about 70 meters, width of 37 meters and have added 4 meters high. Water management system using geomembrane and utilize the force of gravity. The pipes buried in the ground to drain water into the plantation area.

Complementary facilities: hiking trails, camping ground, car parking, restrooms, restaurants, guesthouses, health posts and information centers.

Routes and public transport: There is currently no public transit lines leading to the site, visitors must use their own vehicles or hire vehicles. The road to get to the location from Yogyakarta to Bukit Bintang Patuk, GCD FM Radio, Desa Ngoro-oro then Nglanggeran village. From Wonosari towards the roundabout Sambipitu, Dusun Bobung then Nglanggeran village.

Location: Village Nglanggeran, District Patuk, Gunung Kidul, Yogyakarta.

Reach access: 20 km from Wonosari city (35 minutes), 24 km from Yogyakarta city (50 minutes), 19 km from Adisucipto International Airport (50 minutes), 24 km from Tugu Railway Station (50 minutes) and 22 Km from Lempuyangan Railway Station (40 minutes).

Advice: Come early to see the sunrise in the eastern peak or come in the afternoon to see the sunset in the western peak.

Timang Beach

Pantai Timang is coastal attraction forms the boundary between Java Island and Indian Ocean in Danggolo Sub-village, Purwodadi Village, Tepus District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, as one of the beaches in Gunung Kidul which has white sand. The beach is in a secluded area between Siung Beach and Sundak Beach where a coral island becomes a lobster habitat.



Timang Beach traveled using vehicle from Wonosari City for about 32 kilometers where the motorcycle is the best mode to facilitate travel. This beach is flanked by beaches on the coast of Tepus where the west including Seruni, Pok Tunggal and Ngetun, while in the east are Jogan, Siung, and Nglambor.

This beach consists of two parts where the first part of the east is the white sandy beach and many pandanus plants around it, while the second part to the west is a steep hill rock that directly borders the sea and has great views of the island or a large rock offshore.

Odzala-Kokoua National Park or Odzala National Park is a conservation area of 13,500 sq kilometers (5,200 sq mi) at the Cuvette-Ouest Department, Republic of the Congo, declared a protected area in 1935, biosphere reserves in 1977, and national parks in the year 2001 at.
