Manusela National Park

Taman Nasional Manusela in the middle of Seram island, Maluku Islands, invites visitors to climb Mount Binaiya as high as 3,027 meters, explore tropical forests, riverbanks, swamps rich mangrove forests and white sand beaches then snorkeling and diving in the sea holds beautiful coral reefs.

Manusela National Park has a diverse beautiful topopografi representing coastal mangrove ecosystem types, swamp forests, riverbanks, pamah tropical rain forest, cloud forest and sub-alpine forests in the highlands.

Sawai has variety of coral reefs for snorkeling, diving and watching the cultivation of pearls. Tepi Merkele, Tepi Kabipoto and Wae Kawa is suitable for forest exploration, rock climbing and watching observing animals and plants. In Tehoru there are rope bridges.

A beautiful garden and complete in Pasahari is the place for deer and bird observation, Wai Isal is the location for camping, in Piliana for the observation of butterflies, while Mount Binaya become paradise for mountaineers and watch the waterfall.

Some plant species are tancang (Bruguiera sexangula), mangroves (Rhizophora acuminata), api-api (Avicennia sp.), Lime (Dryobalanops sp.), Pulai (Alstonia scholaris), Ketapang (Terminalia catappa), pandan (Pandanus sp. ), meranti (Shorea selanica), benuang (Octomeles sumatrana), matoa (Pometia pinnata), eucalyptus (Melaleuca leucadendron), various types of orchids and ferns endemic (Chintea Binaya).

Approximately 117 species of birds in which 14 types are endemic such as kesturi ternate (Lorius garrulus), Parrot nape purple/black-headed parrot (L. domicella), seram cockatoo (Cacatua moluccensis), king prawn (Halcyon lazuli and Halcyon sancta), Seram honey large bird (Philemon subcorniculatus) and king parrot ambon (Alisterus amboinensis).

Other animals are deer (Cervus timorensis moluccensis), possum (Phalanger orientalis orientalis), soa-soa (Hydrosaurus amboinensis), wild boar (Sus celebensis), Mongoose (Pardofelis marmorata), lizard panama (Tiliqua gigas gigas), dugongs (Dugong dugon), green turtle (Chelonia mydas), and various species of butterfly. Rare marsupials among others bandikot spooky (Rhynchomeles prattorum).

People in the village Manusela, Ilena Maraina, Selumena and Kanike an enclave in the Manusela National Park. They have long been in the villages and believe that the mountains in the national park can give encouragement and protection in their lives.

Operation Raleigh expedition discovered 46 species of reptiles consist of freshwater turtles (one type), sea turtles (four kinds), crocodile (1 species), lizards (24 species) and snakes (17 species). Endemic lizard is Dibamus seramensis, while the snake is Soa-soa (H. amboinensis), Calamaria ceramensis and Thyphlops kraai. Crocodile (Crocodylus porousus) often found in Wae Toluarang dan Wae Mual river.

Amphibians in family Ranidae is Platymantis papuensis, Rana modesta and Rana grisea ceramensis. Hylidae is Litoria vagabunda, Litoria sp. (Bicolor group), Litoria amboinesis, Litoria infrafenate. Microhylidae is Phrynomantis fusca.

Endemic species of butterflies are Epimastidia staudingeri and Hypochrysops dolechallii. Papilionidae is Ornithoptera priamus, Ornithoptera goliathorocus, Papilio ulysses, Papilio fuscusfuscus, Grafthium stresemani. Pieridae is Delias manuselensis, Delias sp., Hebomoia Leucippe Leucippe, Valeria jobaea eisa, Enaema candida candida. Danidae is Idea idea, Danaus chovsippus, Danaus hanata nigra, Eupolea ciimena melina and Eupolea sp.

Manusela National Park can be divided into four categories is lowlands below 500 meters, the plateau between 500-1500 meters, the mountain areas between 1500 to 2500 meters, and the sub-alpine zone at elevations between 2500-3027 meters.

Location: District of North Seram and South Seram, Seram island, Maluku archipelagic.

Activity: Diving, snorkeling, swimming, fishing, trekking, hiking, camping and hammocking. Explore the flora and fauna. Seeing sunset and sunrise, hunting photography and videography, and others.

Routes and public transport: All flights to Ambon city, then to Amahai city using ship, then to the National Park site. The new route is from Ambon city to Wahai city using Twin Otter aircraft, then to the National Park site.

Advice: Best visit is from May to October.

Timang Beach

Pantai Timang is coastal attraction forms the boundary between Java Island and Indian Ocean in Danggolo Sub-village, Purwodadi Village, Tepus District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, as one of the beaches in Gunung Kidul which has white sand. The beach is in a secluded area between Siung Beach and Sundak Beach where a coral island becomes a lobster habitat.

Timang Beach traveled using vehicle from Wonosari City for about 32 kilometers where the motorcycle is the best mode to facilitate travel. This beach is flanked by beaches on the coast of Tepus where the west including Seruni, Pok Tunggal and Ngetun, while in the east are Jogan, Siung, and Nglambor.

This beach consists of two parts where the first part of the east is the white sandy beach and many pandanus plants around it, while the second part to the west is a steep hill rock that directly borders the sea and has great views of the island or a large rock offshore.

Odzala-Kokoua National Park

Odzala-Kokoua National Park or Odzala National Park is a conservation area of 13,500 sq kilometers (5,200 sq mi) at the Cuvette-Ouest Department, Republic of the Congo, declared a protected area in 1935, biosphere reserves in 1977, and national parks in the year 2001 at. Odzala-Kokoua has more than 100 species of mammals and as one of the most diverse primate populations in Africa.

Odzala-Kokoua is managed by the African Parks in collaboration with the Ministry of Forest Economy, Sustainable Development and Environment of the Republic of the Congo in 2010.
