Wae Rebo village

Wae Rebo is a village with 7 Mbaru Niang house mysterious in remote location in the highlands of Flores island, in a tropical hillside hidden by fog at an altitude of 1100 meters above sea level in the village Satar Lenda, District West Satarmese, Manggarai regency, East Nusa Tenggara.

Seven houses cone and a stone stage in the middle of village is a puzzle in landscape of mountains, forests, grasslands and there are no other villages nearby. Wae Rebo village is translated in the form of traditional houses round and conical, diameter of 11 meters and height of 15 meters has five floors and roof of palm leaves and grass fibers.

Deep in the tropical rain forest mountains and green valleys to be the only place that still retains architecture Mbaru Niang as Manggarai cultural traditions that have been extinct before 1970. Indigenous peoples in Wae Rebo still preserve the tradition technique of building a house for more than 18 generations.

Mbaru Niang house has five floors, five bedrooms and occupied about eight families. Cone design using Worok wood materials for the construction of primary poles, bamboo sticks as secondary construction, wood flooring, roofing from plant fiber, rattan to tie and no nails.

Stilts awesome and getting award of excellence in 2012 as a UNESCO Asia-Pacific Heritage Award for Cultural Heritage. The award is given to conservation projects in the last ten years for buildings that have been outstanding for more than fifty years.

The house is beautiful implementing the first floor serves as a family room. The second floor, third and fourth for storing food, goods everyday, seeds of food crops such as corn, rice and beans. The fifth floor is the top place to place offerings to the ancestors.

Routes and public transport: No public roads, visitors must walk 9 kilometers along the forest. If the journey starts from Labuan Bajo, follow these Ruteng to use the services of minibus for 5-6 hours. Then use motorcycle taxi to the Denge village or Dintor village with about 1-2 hours. Then walk from Denge or Dintor to Wae Rebo Village site about 4 hours.

Advice: A trip to Wae Rebo village is not easy, it takes extra struggle and walk four hours via a dirt road with cliffs, forests and ravines. Wear shoes or sandals trakking comfortable and pads.

Denge village and Dintor village provided the services of porters and homes for lodging. Keep a backpack to store personal items, although hire a porter. Bring enough cash to pay the porter, lodging and souvenirs. Electricity is only lit at 6 pm until 10 pm and there is no cellular signal. Bring powerbank or batrey backup for smartphone or camera.

Wae Rebo can be visited at any time, but the grass grow in the courtyard of the village and was green only during the rainy season. In the rainy season the farmers to harvest coffee. Wae Rebo coffee is one of the best coffee on the island of Flores.

Every 16 or 17 November Wae Rebo residents held a thanksgiving ritual Penti as New Year's celebrations. Various dances, chanting, sacred ceremonies and performances Caci was held in an atmosphere of joy. The visitors tasted the gin is a typical Manggarai wine.

Timang Beach

Pantai Timang is coastal attraction forms the boundary between Java Island and Indian Ocean in Danggolo Sub-village, Purwodadi Village, Tepus District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, as one of the beaches in Gunung Kidul which has white sand. Odzala-Kokoua National Park or Odzala National Park is a conservation area of 13,500 sq kilometers (5,200 sq mi) at the Cuvette-Ouest Department, Republic of the Congo, declared a protected area in 1935, biosphere reserves in 1977, and national parks in the year 2001 at.
