Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park

Taman Nasional Bogani Nani Wartabone is an area of protected tropical forest vegetation on Minahasa peninsula, North Sulawesi, which declared a national park in 1991. The park has an area of 2,871 square kilometers is a zone of wallacea as meeting zones Australia and Asia.

Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park is a national park in North Sulawesi mainland that have high biodiversity and critical habitat for unique species of Sulawesi. Tropical rain forests of Sulawesi and high canopy storing plants of various types and rare fauna.

More than 24 species of mammals, 125 species birds, 11 species reptiles, 2 species amphibians, 38 species butterflies, 200 species beetles and 19 species fish. Some species are endemic and very rare is Anoa lowland (Bubalus depressicornis), Maleo bird (Macrochepalon maleo), Babirusa (Babyrousa), Yaki monkey (Macaca nigra and Macaca nigrescens), Bone bats (Bonea bidens), Dwarf cuscus (Phalanger celebensis) and Bear cuscus (Phalanger ursinus).

More than 400 species of trees, 241 species higher plants, 120 species ferns, 100 species mosses and 90 species orchids. Rare and endemic plants is Palm matayangan (Pholidocarpus ihur), Iron Wood (Intsia spp.), Black Wood (Diospyros celebica), Yellow Wood (Arcangelisia flava) and Bunga Bangkai (Amorphophallus companulatus).

The park occupies the plains sloping, bumpy ground, hills, steep cliffs and mountains that varies between 50 meters to 2000 meters above sea level. The plateau is Mount Padang (1,300 meters), Mount Kabila (1,735 meters), Mount Ali (1,945 meters), Mount Gambuta (1,954 meters) and Mount Damar.

Type of primary forest, secondary forest, mountain rain forest, lowland rain forest and moss forest drain 20 rivers of the mountains with a collection of Lombongo waterfalls, Sungai Tumpah waterfall, Mengkang waterfalls, Lombongo hot springs, Tambun hot springs and Batu Berkapur caves.

Location: Bolaang Mongondow district, North Bolaang Mongondow Bolaang district and South Bolaang Mongondow district in North Sulawesi.
