Yogyakarta Chinese Culture Week

Pekan Budaya Tionghoa Yogyakarta (PBTY) is an annual festival of Chinese culture organized a full week and centered in Chinatown Ketandan village, Yogyakarta, to mark the Lunar New Year and Cap Go Meh. A very lively festival presents a variety of oriental and archipelago culture.

Yogyakarta Chinese Culture Week held for seven days in Yogyakarta present a variety of oriental art and culture parade and the archipelago. The festival is part of a series commemorating the Chinese New Year and Cap Go Meh from various charms of art by the entire community.

Opening the festival is the culture carnival along Malioboro to the North Square of Yogyakarta featuring Jogja Dragon Festival, Barongsay, Shio dance, Getruk Colossal Dancing, Drumband, Giant Dragon Batik, Dragon LED, Dragon Transparant and is attended by hundreds of participants that displays costumes from cultures around Archipelago.

During the week, PBTY featuring a variety of events on the main stage and along Jalan Ketandan Yogyakarta include stand Nusantara culinary or traditional cuisine, art performances on the main stage Kampung Ketandan, and musical entertainment stage behind the Hotel Melia Purosani.

Various events such as Hanyu Qiao competition 2017, Mandarin language competition, Mandarin Karaoke competition, Dance Group competition, Election Koko Cici Yogyakarta 2017, Naga and Barongsay every day, Wayang Potehi, exhibition at the House of Culture Ketandan, Batik Peranakan Workshop and Batik Demo works together the Society of Indonesian Batik Lovers Sekarjagad.

Kampung Ketandan is the Chinatown area of Yogyakarta city in the southeast of the intersection between Malioboro street, Margo Mulyo street, Pajeksan street and Suryatmajan street. The existence of Kampung Ketandan come from the figure Tan Jin Sing is the Chinese captain born in Kedu who settled in Yogyakarta in 1803-1813.

On 18 September 1813, Tan Jin Sing Nayoko regent appointed by the King of Yogyakarta, Sri Ssultan Hamengkubuwono III and earned Kanjeng Raden Tumenggung (KRT) Secadiningrat. Tan Jin Sing then married to a relative of the palace of Yogyakarta.

Tan Jin Sing is one of three Chinese descent in the neighborhood of Yogyakarta Palace is Secadiningrat breed, while two other are Honggodrono breed and Kartodirjo breeds. KRT Secadiningrat died on 10 May 1831. Regent Nayoko and Chinese Kapitan was replaced by his son, Raden Dadang, the title Raden Temenggung Secadiningrat II.

Timang Beach

Pantai Timang is coastal attraction forms the boundary between Java Island and Indian Ocean in Danggolo Sub-village, Purwodadi Village, Tepus District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, as one of the beaches in Gunung Kidul which has white sand. The beach is in a secluded area between Siung Beach and Sundak Beach where a coral island becomes a lobster habitat.



Timang Beach traveled using vehicle from Wonosari City for about 32 kilometers where the motorcycle is the best mode to facilitate travel. This beach is flanked by beaches on the coast of Tepus where the west including Seruni, Pok Tunggal and Ngetun, while in the east are Jogan, Siung, and Nglambor.

This beach consists of two parts where the first part of the east is the white sandy beach and many pandanus plants around it, while the second part to the west is a steep hill rock that directly borders the sea and has great views of the island or a large rock offshore.

Odzala-Kokoua National Park

Odzala-Kokoua National Park or Odzala National Park is a conservation area of 13,500 sq kilometers (5,200 sq mi) at the Cuvette-Ouest Department, Republic of the Congo, declared a protected area in 1935, biosphere reserves in 1977, and national parks in the year 2001 at. Odzala-Kokoua has more than 100 species of mammals and as one of the most diverse primate populations in Africa.

Odzala-Kokoua is managed by the African Parks in collaboration with the Ministry of Forest Economy, Sustainable Development and Environment of the Republic of the Congo in 2010.
