Yogyakarta Gamelan Festival

Festifal Gamelan Yogyakarta is an annual event to bring together the gamelan players and lovers from around the world held in Yogyakarta. The event for three days in July was first initiated by the late Sapto Rahardjo and Gayam 16 Community in 1995.

Yogyakarta Gamelan Festival (YGF) is showcase of creativity attractions bring the players and lovers of gamelan to actualize the beauty artworks of traditional musical instruments of the gamelan, experimental works and theatrical performances organized by Gayam 16 Community.

Gamelan is the heritage of civilization and culture of the Mataram dynasty form of musical art synonymous with 'Gending' and 'Karawitan'. In the old Javanese language gamelan is a classical percussion instruments, but a maestro and composer gamelan from Yogyakarta, Sapto Rahardjo, became an icon of contemporary gamelan.

Rahardjo take gamelan as a universal instrument is played by anyone, anywhere, go beyond age and ethnicity over the limit. Gamelan identical as classical music can only be played in the grip (the rules of) a particular, but Rahardjo shows that everyone can play with each style.

“Gamelan is a spirit, not an object. The instruments are just the medium,” said Rahardjo.

Explores modern gamelan sounds using computer equipment and unified development of the era's transformed into an instrument for musk-style jazz, rock, pop and all kinds of musical genres. Yogyakarta Gamelan Festival (YGF) introducing gamelan with "new flavor" and combined with other instruments from around the world.

Rahardjo died in 2009, but the spirit lives on and developed by Gayam 16 Community is a group of young people who continue to preserve gamelan by organizing YGF. The annual festival invites citizens of the world to play gamelan in various cultures.

Ron Reeves from Australia, Kim Sanders and Blair Greenberg in style blends Sufi flutes from Turkey. Motohide Taguchi of Japan explores demung and bonang combined with short gagaku music commonly played in temples or palaces in Japan.

Victorhugo Hidalgo of Mexico featuring gamelan-style Buddhist, while Sean Hayward and SriMara World Music Collective blends gamelan with flute and acoustic guitar to appear in the concept of theatrical costumes and jarik black clothes.

The annual festival also regularly bring musical groups gamelan in classic and contemporary styles of the Philippines, United States, Canada, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Britain and Russia. They regularly followed YGF to exchange ideas about the art of gamelan. Events do not just watch the show, but also involves a lengthy discussion of traditional and modern music world.

Odzala-Kokoua National Park

Odzala-Kokoua National Park or Odzala National Park is a conservation area of 13,500 sq kilometers (5,200 sq mi) at the Cuvette-Ouest Department, Republic of the Congo, declared a protected area in 1935, biosphere reserves in 1977, and national parks in the year 2001 at. Timang Beach

Pantai Timang is coastal attraction forms the boundary between Java Island and Indian Ocean in Danggolo Sub-village, Purwodadi Village, Tepus District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, as one of the beaches in Gunung Kidul which has white sand.
