Manupeu Tanah Daru National Park

Manupeu Tanah Daru National Park is a nature reserve on Sumba island, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, as representatives of the lowland rainforest remaining on the island. National park set in 1998 has an area of 879.8 square kilometers covering three regencies are West Sumba, Central Sumba and East Sumba.

Manupeu Tanah Daru National Park has a height of 0 to 918 meters above sea level and currently has homestay facilities managed by surrounding communities where the best visiting seasons are March-June and October-December each year.

The remaining forest meeting on Sumba Island is only about 10% of the land area and one part of the forest that still has the main function is Manupeu Tanah Daru area where 63% is in Central Sumba Regency. The park has semi-green rainforest, primary forest and hilly season forest.

High biodiversity and supports endemic species of flora and fauna, especially birds. Some types of flora include Marra (Trameles nudiflora R. Br.), Delo Metung (Palaquium sp.), Injuwatu (Pleiogynium timoriense DC Leenh), Kaduru Bara (Palaquium obtusifolium Burck), Manera (Aglaia eusideroxylon K. et.), Ngoka Bara (Chinocheton sp.), Ulukataka (Agalia odoratissima BI) and Kesambi (Schleicera oleosa).

Types of grasses include Imperata (Imperata cylindrica L. Beauv) and Lantana (Lantana camara). At the location of Praimahala also found the growing habitat of carrion flower (Amorphopallus sp.) that grows with tubers and the growth of this plant about 3-5 years.

The number of fauna is 223 species of birds where 8 are endemic species and 23 endemic subspecies, 23 species of mammals and 7 species of Sumba endemic butterfly. A total of 57 identified reptile and amphibian species consist of 4 reptile species and 2 amphibian endemic species.

Endemic birds include crested cockatoo (Cacatua sulphurea citrinocristata), Julang Sumba (Aceros everitti), Sumba Punai (Treron teysmanii), Punggok wengi (Ninox rudolfi), Sumba owl (Ninox sumbaensis), Sikatan Sumba (Myzomela erythocephala), Bird Honey Sumba (Nectariana buettikoferi) and Walik rawamanu (Ptilinopus dohertyi).

Endemic mammals include deer timor (Cervus timorensis), while some other common forest dwellers include Macaca carius, wild boar (Sus vitatus), forest chickens (Gallus Galus) and Python reticulatus. The spread of endemic habitat in village of Manurara, Tanamodu, Konda Maloba, Umbulangang, Padiratana, Watumbelar and Umamanu.

The park has several waterfalls and steady flow of water throughout the season composing beautiful moss and verdant plants around it. The long and sloping beaches on the south coast are rich fish o gargahing, red grouper and white grouper. Outside is the mangrove forest as a habitat of shrimp, crabs and sea birds.

Some areas are composed of limestine and some regions form karst regions through the process of karstification for millions of years and bring up caves that spread in the region. Timang Beach

Pantai Timang is coastal attraction forms the boundary between Java Island and Indian Ocean in Danggolo Sub-village, Purwodadi Village, Tepus District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, as one of the beaches in Gunung Kidul which has white sand. The beach is in a secluded area between Siung Beach and Sundak Beach where a coral island becomes a lobster habitat.
