Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park

Bukit Baka Bukit Raya National Park is a conservation area located in the heart of Borneo in a hydrological function as a catchment area for the Melawi River basin in West Kalimantan and the Katingan River basin in Central Kalimantan. The area is representative of the tropical rainforest ecosystem that dominates the peaks of the Schwaner mountains.

Bukit Baka Bukit Raya is a combination of Bukit Baka Nature Reserve in West Kalimantan and Bukit Raya Nature Reserve in Central Kalimantan in a total of 1,811 sq kilometers (699 sq mi). A series of mountains at an altitude of 150 meters to 2,278 meters, including Bukit Panjake (1,450 m), Bukit Lesung (1,600 m), Bukit Panjing (1,620 m), Bukit Baka (1,617 m), Bukit Melabanbun (1,850 m), Bukit Asing m), and Bukit Raya (2,278 m).

This national park has several types of ecosystems are lowland dipterocarp forest at an altitude of 100-1000 m, hill forest at an altitude of 1000-1500 m, mountain forest at an altitude above 1,500 m and moss forest in moss vegetation on epiphytic hilltops.


Noted 817 species of plants included in the 139 families are Dipterocarpaceae, Myrtaceae, Sapotaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Lauraceae, and Ericadeae. The area also includes medicinal plants, forest orchids, Raflesia (Raflesia sp.). Endemic plants include Symplocos rayae, Gluta sabahan, Dillenia beccariana, Lithocarpus coopertus, Selaginnella magnifica and Tetracera glaberrima.

Symplocaceae include Symplocos adenophylla, Symplocos crassipis, Symplocos laeteviridis, Symplocos rayae and Symplocos rubiginosa. Some of the first recorded species are Gluta sabahan, Microtropis valida, Dillenia beccariana, Tetracera glaberrima, Lithocarpus coopertus, Gonocaryum crassifolium, Misrostegium spectabile and Selaginnela magnifica.

Orchids include Dendrobium mutaabile, Coelogyne rochussenii, Polystacya flavescens, Bulbophyllum Purpurescens, Cymbidium finlaysonianum, Renathera matutina, Pholidota giobosa, Thelasia carinata, Claderia viridifolia, Eria floribunda, Trichoglottis loncolaria and Flickingeria fimbriata.

Other orchids include Grammatophylum speciosum, Agrostophylum longifolium, Callothe vestita, Dendrochylum crassum, Liparis Parviflora, Macodes petola, Agrostophyllum haseltii, Bulbophylum obscorum, Coelogyne septemcostata, Dendrochylum davindtianum, Eria cepifolia, Liparis condylobulbon, Pholida carnes and Thelasis carinata.


Mammals include sun bears (Helarctus malayanus), cyclone (Mydaus javensis), weasel wisel (Mustela nupides), civet water (Cynogale bennettii), binturong (Arctitis binturong), civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus), linsang (Prionodon linsang), musang bergaris (Hemigalus derbyanus), musang belang (Visvessa tangalunga), leopard (Neofelis nebulosa), forest cat (Felis begalensis), golden cat (Felis badia) and white boar (Sus barbatus).

Other mammals are wild boar (Sus scrofa), rod (Tragulus napu), mouse deer (Tragulus sp.), Uncal kouran (Macropygia ruficeps), deer (Muntiacus muntjak), sambar deer (Cervus unicolor), pangolin (Manis javanica), tarsius (Tarsius bancanus), forest rats (Apodemus sylvaticus), squirrels dwarf (Exilisciurus exilis), coconut squirrels (Collosciurus notatus), flying squirrels (Petaurista elegans), porcupine (Hytrix brachyuran), trubus tailed bats (Emballonura alecto) and little honey bats (Macroglassus minimus).

Primates include the Bornean orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus), the gray langur (Presbytis cristata), the black monkey (Presbytis malalophos), sutured lyung (Presbytis rubicunda), white forehead (Presbytis frontata), ungko (Hylobates agilis), wau-wau (Hylobates lar), loris (Hylobates muelleri), lemurs (Nycticebus coucang), tarsius (Tarsius bancanus), short-tailed monkeys (Macaca sp.), long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis) and macacca nemes (Macaca nemestrina).

Birds include gading hornbills (Buceros Vigil), rhino hornbills (Buceros rhinoceros), black hornbills (Anthracoceros malayanus), hawk eagle (Pandion haliaetus), bondol eagle (Haliaetus indus), gray eagle (Butastur indicus), Wallace eagle (Spizaetus nanus), rat eagle (Elanus caeruleus), black eagle (Inctinaetus malayensis), small fish eagle (Ichthyophobi humilis), alap sapi (Falco moluccensis) and alap capung (Microhierax fringillarius).

Also quail (Coturnix chinensis), cherry pepper (Amaurornis phoenicurus), Delightful emerald (Chalcophaps indica), black necklace (Charadrius dubius), red leon (Treron vernans), owl (Otus spilocephalus), woodpecker (Hemicircus conceretus), pergam besar (Ducula pickeringi), Malay serindit (Loriculus galgulus), kua (Argusianus argus), chicken forest (Lophura bulweri) and Kuau kalimantan (Polyplectron schleiermacheri).

Fish including seluang (Osteochilus spilurus), baung (Mystus micracanthus), adung (Hampala macrolepidota), Puntiopliotes waandersi, Lambocheilos bo, Lambocheilos lehat, Tor tambra, Hampala banaculata, Puntioplites waandersi and Chelonodon Patoca. Crustaceae includes Macrobracium and Pilimanus.

Reptiles and Amphibians include Lamaria schlegeli, Spenomorphus and tortoises (Testudinidae), leaf frogs, and stone frogs. Insects include butterflies (Lepidoptera), beetles (coleoptera), Grasshopper (Orthoptera), Dragonflies (Odonata), and ants (Hymenoptera).


Rafting on Ella River in West Kalimantan and Senamang River in Central Kalimantan where camp area is also available at Siyai Resort, Belaban Village Ella, West Kalimantan. Treking along 25 kilometers to observe orangutans, kelimpau, deer, hornbills, monitor lizards and others.

On certain days indigenous people perform Sengkelan rituals for weddings and harvest seasons. Dayak Gawai is held annually in every District.

Routes and public transport:

Sintang City Route in West Kalimantan: Flights to Susilo Airport at Sintang City. Then travel by public bus to Nanga Pinoh in 2.5 hours.

Sampit City Route in Central Kalimantan: Flights to H. Asan Airport at Sampit City. Then travel by public bus to Kasongan in 2 hours.

Drive around to the area using a variety of ways including cars, motorcycles, speedboats, longboats and walking.

Odzala-Kokoua National Park

Odzala-Kokoua National Park or Odzala National Park is a conservation area of 13,500 sq kilometers (5,200 sq mi) at the Cuvette-Ouest Department, Republic of the Congo, declared a protected area in 1935, biosphere reserves in 1977, and national parks in the year 2001 at. Timang Beach

Pantai Timang is coastal attraction forms the boundary between Java Island and Indian Ocean in Danggolo Sub-village, Purwodadi Village, Tepus District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, as one of the beaches in Gunung Kidul which has white sand.
