Lake Tolire

Lake Tolire are two mysterious lakes at the foot of Mount Gamalama (1715 meters) in Ternate Island District, Ternate City, North Maluku Province, Indonesia. The local people call it Tolire Besar Lake and Tolire Kecil Lake only about 200 meters apart by dense forest, both of which have high cliffs and are dramatically located right on the coast of the island.

Tolire Besar Lake has a symmetrical round shape like a giant baking sheet of 5 hectares and surrounded by cliffs about 50 meters, while the Tolire Kecil Lake located on the edge of the beach has a triangular shape, surrounded by cliffs and has a smaller area.

Until now not known the depth of the two lakes and there has been no research on these mysterious lakes. People who live on the island of Ternate believe the lake has a depth of many miles in the earth. A theory says both lakes are the old crater of Mount Gamalama.

Freshwater in Lake Tolire is home to a variety of fish, perhaps many unique and rare species. Local people do not have the courage to catch fish or swim in the lake. A legend believes the lake has green water is inhabited by many stealth crocodiles.

Ternate island is a volcanic island formed by stratovolcano cone of Mount Gamalama has erupted more than 60 times since it was first recorded in 1538. The most victims in 1775 eliminated Soela Takomi Village along 141 residents and created Tolire Besar and Tolire Kecil.

Eruption in 2003 forced the people to flee to Tidore Island. In 2009, the mountain gained "Status Alert" by the Government as the third level in the standard of active volcanoes in Indonesia. Odzala-Kokoua National Park

Timang Beach

Pantai Timang is coastal attraction forms the boundary between Java Island and Indian Ocean in Danggolo Sub-village, Purwodadi Village, Tepus District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, as one of the beaches in Gunung Kidul which has white sand.
