Maasai Mara National Reserve

Maasai Mara National Reserve or Masai Mara or The Mara is a large safari game reserve in Narok County, Rift Valley Province, Kenya, adjacent to the Serengeti National Park in Mara and Simiyu, Tanzania, in honor of the Maasai people as regional ancestors and proper descriptions for trees, shrubs, savannas, and cloud shadows as the uniqueness of the area.

Maasai Mara National Reserve is famous for lions, leopards, and cheetahs. The region is part of 'Great Migration' where the zebra, Thomson's gazelle, and wildebeest traverse the Serengeti every July-October. Maasai Mara is only a small part of the Greater Mara Ecosystem that includes Koiyaki, Lemek, Ol Chorro Oirowua, Olkinyei, Siana, Maji Moto, Naikara, Ol Derkesi, Kerinkani, Oloirien, and Kimintet.

The Mara covers about 1,510 sq kilometers (583 sq mi) in southwestern Kenya or the northernmost part of the Mara-Serengeti ecosystem that covers about 25,000 sq kilometers (9,700 sq mi) in Kenya and Tanzania. The fields are mainly open grasslands, distinctive acacia trees and seasonal rivers. The area has a height of 1500-2180 meters, 83 mm rainfall/month, and a temperature of 12-30C.

Wildlife tends to be concentrated in the swampy Maara where water access is always good and disturbance is minimal. Wildebeests, topi, zebra, and Thomson's gazelles migrate inside and occupy the Maara from the Serengeti plains to the south and Loita Plains from July to October.

'Big Five' includes lions, leopards, African elephants, cape buffalo, and black rhino roam the Maasai Mara. The population of black rhinoceros estimated 23 individuals in 1999, hippopotami and crocodiles were found in large groups in the Mara river and Talek River. Leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and nocturnal bat-eared foxes can also be found within the region.

The plains are also a place for antelopes, Grant's gazelles, impalas, duberers, and Coke's hartebeests and Masai giraffe. Wildebeest is the dominant Maasai Mara population in a matter of millions. More than 470 species of birds are mainly migrants with 60 species of raptors. Birds include vultures, marabou storks, secretary birds, hornbills, crowned cranes, ostriches, long-crested eagles, African pygmy-falcons and the lilac-breasted roller.

The herds migrate north from the Serengeti plain to search for fresh pasture around July and return south around October. Great Migration is the most impressive natural event involving 1,300,000 Wildebeests, 500,000 Thomson's gazelles, 97,000 topi, 18,000 elands, and 200,000 zebra followed by predators, especially lions and hyenas.

Timang Beach

Pantai Timang is coastal attraction forms the boundary between Java Island and Indian Ocean in Danggolo Sub-village, Purwodadi Village, Tepus District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, as one of the beaches in Gunung Kidul which has white sand.
