Preah Vihear Temple

Preah Vihear Temple or Prasat Preah Vihea is a ruins of Hindu temples built during the Khmer Empire during the reign of King Suryavarman I (1006-1050) and Suryavarman II (1113-1150) at the top of the 525 meter (1,722 foot) Dângrêk Mountains at Choam Khsant District, Preah Vihear Province, Cambodia.

Preah Vihear Temple is dedicated to Sikharesvara and Bhadresvara as the reincarnation of Shiva Hinduism. Both are mountain gods. Prasat Preah Vihear is a composite of Prasat, Preah and Vihear which means "religious offerings from the holy place" and Cambodians sometimes refer to as "Phnom Preah Vihear".

On July 7, 2008, Preah Vihear Temple was assigned to the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. The temple site in 1962 was damaged by being bombarded by Thai artillery forces after a long dispute between Cambodia and Thailand over territorial borders.

Prasat Preah Vihear has the most spectacular setting of all the temples built during the centuries-old Khmer Empire. The building became the main venue of imperial spiritual life and has been modified by successive kings that enrich the elements in several architectural styles.

Preah Vihear is built along the long north-south axis, this is different from other Khmer temples that have a conventional rectangular layout oriented to the east. The construction of this site in the early 9th century, but has a style of Koh Ker and Banteay Srei which was built in the 10th century.

The temple complex extends 800 meters (2,600 feet) along the north-south axis facing the plains to the north which is now cut off by the international border. The walkway and steps from 120 meters (390 ft) up the hill to the shrine at the summit at 625 meters (2,051 ft)

The path to the shrine is punctuated by five gopura where each marks a change in altitude. Gopura also obstructs the visitor's view of the next part of the temple until they pass through the gate, making it impossible to see the whole complex from a single point. Routes and public transport: Flights to Siem Reap International Airport in Siem Reap City, then use the minibus to Anlong Veng District, then use 4x4 or mototaxis to Preah Vihear Temple.

Advice: The only way to get around the temple is by walking to climb 500 meters. You can hire a motorbike taxi to drive a steep climb to the temple foot, but you still have to climb the stairs yourself.

Timang Beach

Pantai Timang is coastal attraction forms the boundary between Java Island and Indian Ocean in Danggolo Sub-village, Purwodadi Village, Tepus District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, as one of the beaches in Gunung Kidul which has white sand.
