Samal Island

Samal Island or Island Garden City of Samal or Pulong Harding Lungsod ng Samal or IGaCOS is an island of 301 sq kilometers (116.33 sq mi) in Davao del Norte Province, Philippines. The island of 104,123 people comprises Samal Island and the smaller Talikud Island in Davao Bay as part of the Metropolitan Davao City and the main economic center of Mindanao.

An island in the heart of Davao Bay with 118 kilometers of coastline and a collection of 9 small islands. Sanipaan Shoal called Vanishing Island where half of the 80 hectares of shoal emerge as sand bars at low tide, but disappears when the tide creates an illusion on the high seas.

Samal Island is the only city in the Philippines that includes two main islands and the end is called Island Garden City. Beautiful beaches on the coast and hills dominate the center of the island with the highest peak of Mount Puting Bato (1,755 feet). Talikud Island is located on the southwest of the main island and has a smaller area.

Talikud Island and Ligid Island are excellent scuba diving spots where diving into the depths will reveal colorful underwater scenery with tropical marine life. The 150-hectare Coral Garden & Marine Reservation Park offers other pleasures for dive and snorkeling enthusiasts.

Monfort Bat Sanctuary is home to 2.3 million megabat (Pteropodidae) and covers 75% cave wall as high as 75 meters (245 feet) as the largest single colony in the world. Millions of bats were flying out of the cave to find fruit food right after sunset,

Timang Beach

Pantai Timang is coastal attraction forms the boundary between Java Island and Indian Ocean in Danggolo Sub-village, Purwodadi Village, Tepus District, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, as one of the beaches in Gunung Kidul which has white sand. The beach is in a secluded area between Siung Beach and Sundak Beach where a coral island becomes a lobster habitat.
